hello summer!

happy summer! it's officially summertime. this season always feels like the shortest of the year, especially when you live in upstate ny. there's only so many sunny days to enjoy and i'd like to take full advantage of all of them this summer. so i thought i'd come up with a list of ten things that i’d like to accomplish before labor day..
1. attend an outdoor concert
2. sneak into a fancy hotel pool
3. create a summer 2010 playlist for my ipod
4. take walks after dinner at least twice a week
5. set friday night dinner dates and sunday brunch dates
6. go swimming in a waterfall
7. drive to the beach as often as possible
8. master my own signature summer cocktail
9. attend a food or music festival
10. donate the summer clothes that I don’t end up wearing
what do you hope to do this summer?

memorial day in burlington, VT

i'm still overwhelmed how much we managed to squeeze into one day in burlington! that's about all it took for me to fall in love with this little town.

we started the day at henry's diner for steak&eggs on a skillet. what a fun little diner to visit burlington and the breakfast was delicious! from there we did some boutique shopping on church st. i bought a cute summer silk dress at Ecco and a pair of dolce vita gold sandals. my boyfriend and his friend enjoyed the burlington guitar&amp store. after an early afternoon of shopping, we went down to the waterside restaurant called splash for some afternoon cocktails. the weather and view of lake champlain was gorgeous!

by 4pm we were ready for happy hour and remembered that the magic hat brewery was only 10 miles away. the magic hat brewery is such a cool place, we sampled every magic hat beer there is. i found my new summer beer, magic hat's summer brew wacko - so yummy! after a good beer buzz, we were hungry and made our way back to church street where there are so many restaurants and cafes with outdoor patios - it was hard to choose! we found one that looked really good called three tomatoes! we ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, of course it came with three tomatoes! i got a pork bolognese and my boyfriend got fettuccine alfredo for entrees that were both amazing.

after dinner we were ready for our drive home. we made the ferry just in time to watch the sunset.. the end to a perfect day.
